Become a qualified Bowen Therapy practitioner
In Australia, Bowen Therapy training is a nationally-recognised course, taught through the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Bowen Training Australia RTO#41134.
Two qualifications in Bowen Therapy are available:
- Certificate IV in Bowen Therapy 10846NAT
- Diploma of Specialised Bowen Therapy 10847NAT
The specialised Bowen training for Certificate IV in Bowen Therapy 10846NAT takes the form of a series of seven two-day, hands-on training modules, which need to be completed in sequence. Training Package units are available by distance learning through Bowen Training Australia.
In the first module, Module 1, you will be introduced to the Bowen move and relaxation procedures and be exposed to the power of Bowen as a healing modality.
Further modules take you step by step through the Bowen training, introducing new procedures to address a wide range of problems that clients may present with.
Each Bowen module is taught over a two-day period. Margaret teaches 2 modules (e.g. Modules 1 & 2) over four consecutive days. The timing of the training allows plenty of time to revise and consolidate techniques between modules.
A Diploma of Specialised Bowen Therapy 10846NAT will involve further study, after the successful completion of the Certificate IV 10533NAT/10846NAT (or equivalent.)

Margaret, in conjunction with Anne Schubert, also a Senior Bowtech Instructor, has been instrumental in developing the Mind Body Bowen Workshops. They have taken this continually evolving practitioner workshop around Australia since 2002, the U.K. and Europe from 2004, N.Z. from 2005, U.S.A. from 2006, Canada from 2007 and Singapore 2009.
Mind Body Bowen (MBB) takes the Bowen move/s and together with mindfulness explores the relationship of the moves to the body’s bio-electric fields, muscle/meridian and fascial links. MBB is an aspect of Bowen especially useful for clients with chronic conditions or returning problems. Each session is individualised to the client’s needs.
The Mind Body Bowen Workshop explores:
Bowenwork links with the field of mind-body healing, the ‘when less is best’ principle, priorities for treatment, components and post-traumatic stress issues. Addressing links to the subtle anatomy of the body (e.g. muscle/meridian correspondences) the holistic nature Bowen therapy linking the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual can be explored.

Please note that while Mind Body Bowen is not part of the nationally recognised courses, it is Bowtech-accredited and eligible for CEU points with Bowen Association Australia.
